Dedicated to the 26th President of the United States, Theodore Roosevelt Island is located on the Potomac River. The island is not accessible by cars or bicycles, and can only be reached by crossing a footbridge near the George Washington Memorial Parkway. The island itself, is home to a memorial designed by Eric Gugler. The memorial is composed of four large monolith stones engraved with famous quotations by President Roosevelt. It also features a 17-footsculpture of Theodore Roosevelt by sculptor Paul Manship (see image).
