Charted unanimously in 1980 by Congress, the Holocaust Memorial Museum is dedicated to studying and documenting the events that occurred during the Holocaust along with all those who lost their lives. In April 1993 the Museum was opened with President Clinton and Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel lighting an eternal flame in the Hall of Remembrance. On display at the Holocaust Museum you can find exhibits, publications, artwork, and actual artifacts from this period of time. The United States provides funding for the museum along with many other private funding sources such as Jewish director Steven Spielberg.
