Veterans from all the nation's wars are buried here on the 200 acres of Arlington National Cemetery. Established during the American Civil War, other notable sites include John F. Kennedy's grave with the eternal flame, Tomb of Unknowns which is the most visited site at the cemetery and Section 27 designated for more than 3,800 former slaves from the Civil War era. The Arlington National Cemetery is located across from the Potomac River and conducts more than 5,000 burials each year.
